Janet was born in 1973 at Mulga Bore in the Northern Territory. She is a member of the Anmatyerre language group and is an “emerging” artist of the Utopia region.
Janet bears the family name made famous by the wonderful senior artist Emily Kame Kngwarreye, who was her grandmother. Emily and other extended family members taught Janet her painting skills.She is married to Ronnie Bird Jungula, son of another famous senior painter, Ada Bird Petyarre, now deceased. They have 4 children and currently live in Alice Springs, but Janet regularly travels back to her country.
