Jean Hudson Nampitjinpa

Jean was born c1954 at Yuelumu (Mt. Allan) NT and is from the Warlpiri language group. Her country is at Kerrinyerra (Mt. Wedge) where she was brought up in the traditional law.

Her dreamings are Kawmarra (bush onion), Warlu (fire) and Ngapa (water). Her painting has developed from traditional iconography through to an abstract impressionism. She is sister to well-known artist, Maureen Hudson Nampitjinpa.

This painting depicts Fire Dreaming at Warlukurlangu. Old man Tjampitjinpa and two boys are shown with their fire sticks. The fire has startled a Dreamtime emu, whose tracks are shown crossing Napperby Creek.
