Jeannie was born c1956 near Utopia and is a member of the Anmatyerre language group.
Her family group include many of our most acclaimed artists. Niece to Emily Kngwarreye, sister to Greeny Purvis Petyarre, Evelyn Pultara and Anna Petyarre, cousin of Gloria Petyarre, Ada Bird Petyarre and many others.
Jeannie started painting Batiks in the mid 1980’s and moved to canvas where she now paints her dreamings including Bush Medicine leaves, Bush yam and Mountain Devil lizard.
Her work features a use of vibrant colour and creative designs. Her Bush Medicine leaf paintings relate to the process of gathering and mixing various plants with animal fat to make medicine.
