Julie Robinson Nangala

Julie was born in Yuendumu in 1973, a member of the Warlpiri clan. She is one of the five daughters of Telstra Award winning artist, Dorothy Napangardi. Mentored by her talented mother, Julie has developed a creative style of her own.

Julie paints graphically minimal (dot style) designs of her country Pirlinyanu, a land of rocky outcrops and deep water springs. Her main Dreaming is of this important water source near Mina Mina, for which she is now traditional custodian.

Her first exhibition was held jointly with her mother, at the Holmes A Court gallery in Perth in 2004. With such an upbringing in Aboriginal culture and art, Julie is a new generation artist to follow, as her popularity can only grow.
