Nellie Marks Nakamarra
| Nellie was born c1958 into the language group of Pintupi, at Papunya .She is the daughter of a Walpiri woman and her younger sister is Elizabeth Marks Nakamarra a renowned artist and the step daughter of Turkey Tolsen, one of the founders of the Desert Art Movement.
Nellie was taught the Dreamings of her family from a young age and is now custodian of Dreaming stories from her father’s and grandfather’s country, the region east of Kintore in the Western Desert. With mentors who included Old Mick Namarrari, UtaUta, Ronnie Tjampitjinpa and her step father Turkey Tolsen, Nellie has emerged as a significant artist in her own right. Her dreamings are of Women’s stories, Women’s Tingari ,My Country and Travelling Country.Nellie’s works ,both in composition and colour ,are exceptional and she is most sought after and collectable.
