Thomas was born c1964 and with his brothers Walala and Warlimpirrnga and other Pintupi family, walked out of a nomadic existence in the desert in 1984 and found fame as ‘The Lost Tribe”. This was their first contact with non-Aboriginal people.Thomas started painting in the late 1980’s for Papunya Tula Artists and is considered one of the leading Pintupi artists of the Western Desert. His work refers to the Tingari Cycle mythology (see Walala Tjapaltjarri’s biog for details).As with his brothers Walala and Warlimpirrgna, Thomas’s work is highly regarded and widely collected.
